990 and 990T

In accordance with IRS regulations, Cornell University files the following tax returns each year.

990:  Organizations which the IRS considers to be exempt from federal income tax are generally required to file 990s on an annual basis. 990s are information returns, and unlike most tax returns, are public documents. Each 990 describes the missions and accomplishments of the filing organization and provides revenue and expense data.

990T:  Exempt organizations generating unrelated business income must also file 990Ts, which are federal income tax returns. These organizations must pay federal income taxes on the net taxable income from these business activities. New York State also requires exempt organizations to file income tax returns reporting unrelated business income.
